Seeing WOW? Start the evening at the Thistle. 

Gather your group at The Thistle Inn before heading to World of WearableArt, with a pre-show package made for easing into the evening over a drink and something to eat.

Before late licences and 3am closes there was the lock-in.

When the doors officially shut, the real night began. If you were in the know, you stayed. Curtains were drawn, doors were locked and glasses filled. For one night only, The Thistle Inn is bringing that spirit back through an after-hours evening of drinks, canapés, long-table dining and live music.

The Lock INN is a modern take on the after-hours tradition - an evening that begins with drinks and canapés before guests gather for lavish long-table dining once the doors close to the public.

Think generous shared plates, flowing drinks, and the kind of feast that’s built for passing, pouring and lingering at the table. As the evening unfolds, a live band shifts the atmosphere as the night carries on, as things move into a more social close.
It will be a little indulgent, a little rebellious and entirely unforgettable.

Your ticket includes canapés, a five-course shared feast, four drinks served throughout the evening, and live music.

This July, we’re delighted to welcome the Andrew London Duo to Thistle Inn for our monthly jazz night.

Known for their witty storytelling, rich harmonies, and effortless blend of jazz, blues and swing, Andrew and Kirsten London bring a warm, lively energy that has charmed audiences across New Zealand and beyond.
Expect an evening filled with clever originals, much-loved classics, and the kind of musicianship that feels perfectly at home in the Main Bar.

From Western swing to jazz-inspired favourites, this is music made for good conversation, a glass of red, and settling in for the night.

Join us before the match from 2pm, or return after the final whistle for an evening of good food, great company, and a drink on arrival.

On Thursday 9 July, we’ll be serving a specially curated four-course set menu designed to bring people together around the table in celebration of Matariki - a time for reflection, connection, and hospitality.

The Warratahs

The Warratahs return to The Thistle Inn this July, celebrating the release of their new single Quicksilver Days.

One of New Zealand's most beloved country-rock bands, The Warratahs have spent decades soundtracking road trips, late nights and dance floors across Aotearoa. Led by Barry Saunders, the band continues to deliver the songs and live performances that have made them a staple of the New Zealand music scene.

Joining them on the night is Richard Reugg.

Make a night of it with our Dinner & Show option, including a two-course dinner in one of The Thistle Inn's dining rooms before the performance. Dinner will be served from 6:30pm, before guests move through to the Main Bar for the show.
